barhop.jp is a free nightlife guide designed specifically for tourists and visitors exploring Japan. We cover bars, cocktail bars, ramen shops, sushi restaurants, yakiniku (Japanese BBQ), and karaoke venues across Japan — from Tokyo's neon-lit streets to Osaka's vibrant Dotonbori, Kyoto's atmospheric Pontocho, and beyond.

Why we built this

Japan's nightlife is one of the best in the world, but navigating it as a visitor can be challenging. Most review sites are in Japanese, and finding what's actually open and nearby at midnight can be frustrating. We built barhop.jp to solve that problem.

The idea is simple: tell us where you are (at a bar or at a restaurant), pick what you're in the mood for, and we'll show you the best options within walking distance — complete with English reviews, walking time, and one-tap navigation.

How it works

1. Tell us where you are — Are you at a bar looking for food or entertainment? Or at a restaurant looking for your next drink? This helps us show you the most relevant options.
2. Pick a category — Choose from bars, cocktail bars, ramen, sushi, yakiniku, or karaoke. We search for places within 1.5km of your current location.
3. Explore results — See places on a map with walking distances, ratings, English reviews, and opening hours. Tap "Navigate" for walking directions on Google Maps.
